The Staples fleet had experimented with a diesel hybrid delivery truck, but this year, they unveiled an all electric delivery vehicle. Built by Smith Electric Vehicles, this delivery truck will have no emissions and lower cost of fueling: $.12/mile vs. $.40+/mile.

General Motors announced today that will will cease production of its medium-duty truck operations as of July 31st, 2009. After trying to find a buyer for the business and Kodiak/Topkick models- the company has decided to just call it quits.

Consider this more a preview than a review because only part of a day was spent with the Ford Transit Connect. But if my first impressions are correct (and they usually are with automobiles) this little commercial truck that has been on sale in Europe since 2002 could be quite a hit in the United States.
