2016 Ford Escape is about to walk the plank

Just a few months ago, Ford announced a mild-refresh to the popular 2017 Ford Escape. While we have not yet been able to drive this refreshed compact crossover, I just took its outgoing 2016 model for a drive. The “lame duck” Escape impressed me far more than I would have expected. With the new-ish 2017 model just around the bend, no doubt dealerships will begin selling this exact model at a big discount in the near future. If you’re in the market for a compact crossover, listen up.

2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport SE – Great looks in a tough category

The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport SE is a well-equipped, great looking small crossover.  It has the tough look of its cool-cat brother the EVO, and in all black is a stylish ride.  The Outlander Sport is not an economy vehicle, but rather one with all the luxury amenities $29,945 can buy.  It chooses to do battle in one of the toughest market segments in which to stand out.

The new 2015 Honda CRV is improved in every way

The 2015 Honda CRV is what Honda calls a major, minor refresh. The car is familiar, and has only changed looks a bit, but pretty much every aspect of this car has been improved significantly.  The drivetrain is upgraded to the same one the Accord uses, fuel economy is now spectacular, not just great. This cute ‘ute also now has what I would call a secret autopilot mode that allows for no hands and no feet driving on the highway.  The interior and infotainment is all-new, the safety of this vehicle is as good as it gets, and the level of refinement at the new top trim level called Touring has me wondering why I would ever consider spending more for an Acura.
