All that remains to be seen is if American will get charged up and buy Nissan’s all-new, all-electric vehicle – the 2011 LEAF  - that runs $25, 280 after the $7,500 federal tax credit and before you add another $2,000 or so for the at-home charging station you’ll need to enjoy your 100-mile eco-friendly daily driving range.

Nissan begins taking reservations for the car — which includes three years of roadside assistance — on April 20.

Other states offering tax incentives include a $5,000 statewide tax rebate in California; a $5,000 tax credit in Georgia; a $1,500 tax credit in Oregon; and carpool-lane access in some states, including California.

“Imagine the possibility of never needing to go to a gas station again. Or of paying less than $3 for 100 miles behind the wheel. Or of creating zero emissions while driving,” said Brian Carolin, senior vice president, Sales and Marketing, NNA. “Nissan leads the industry by offering the first affordable, zero-emission vehicle for the mass market. Nissan LEAF truly is in a class by itself.”

What does LEAF stand for?

According to Nissan, the car’s name has two meanings. LEAF stands for “Leading, Environmentally Friendly, Affordable, Family Car.” The name also highlights the LEAF’s environmentally-friendly engineering. Nissan says, “Just as leaves purify the air in nature, so Nissan LEAF purifies mobility by taking emissions out of the driving experience.”

The vehicle at the standard SV trim level is well-equipped with a variety of standard features, including an advanced navigation system and Internet/smart phone connectivity to the vehicle, including pre-heat/pre-cool and charging control. Nissan LEAF is equipped with energy-efficient LED headlights and makes extensive use of recycled and recyclable materials, such as seat fabric, instrument panel materials, and front- and rear-bumper fascias. Other standard amenities include Bluetooth connectivity; Intelligent-key with push button start; Sirius/XM satellite radio capabilities and roadside assistance. Safety features include vehicle dynamic control (stability control), traction control and six airbags. The SL trim level, available for an additional $940 (MSRP), adds  rearview monitor, solar panel spoiler, fog lights, and automatic headlights.

Reservations and Purchase

In order to ensure a one-stop-shop customer experience, Nissan is carefully managing the purchase process from the first step, when consumers sign up on NissanUSA.com, until the customer takes the Nissan LEAF home and plugs it into a personal charging dock.

• Nissan begins accepting reservations on April 20 first from people who have signed up on NissanUSA.com, and, after a brief introductory period, to all interested consumers.
• Consumers will be required to pay a $99 reservation fee, which is fully refundable.
• Reserving a Nissan LEAF ensures consumers a place in line when Nissan begins taking firm orders in August, as well as access to special, upcoming Nissan LEAF events.
• Rollout to select markets begins in December, with nationwide availability in 2011.

Charging Equipment

In tandem with the purchase process, Nissan will offer personal charging docks, which operate on a 220-volt supply, as well as their installation. Nissan is providing these home-charging stations, which will be built and installed by AeroVironment, as part of a one-stop-shop process that includes a home assessment.

• The average cost for the charging dock plus installation will be $2,200.
• Charging dock and installation are eligible for a 50 percent federal tax credit up to $2,000.
• Using current national electricity averages, Nissan LEAF will cost less than $3 to “fill up.”
• Nissan LEAF also will be the sole vehicle available as part of The EV Project, which is led by EV infrastructure provider eTec, a division of ECOtality, and will provide free home-charging stations and installation for up to 4,700 Nissan LEAF owners in those markets.

Poised on a pedestal and behind it’s own security guard sat Lexus’ super coupe. Powered by a 552 horsepower V10 the LFA leaps to 60 in 3.6 seconds and keeps going to 202 mph. The mostly carbon fiber car was off limits, we’d imagine that Lexus isn’t ready to let the $350,000 rocket into the hands of just “any” automotive journalist just yet.

Supercars are rarely have a short development cycle, and the LFA is no exception. The design has been refined by a small team over the past decade. Which means they were developing this car before some way back when you were preparing for Y2K.

The 4.8 liter V10 revs all the way up to 9,000 rpm which means this screamer develops 115bhp per liter. Should you have the means, you can contact Lexus to inquire about picking up one of the only 500 copies that will be made. That is of course, you wouldn’t rather have a Corvette ZR1, Ferrari F430 and a Nissan GT-R.

After a successful debut at Pebble Beach past August in the USA, and at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September, Bentley has released that its new flagship sedan, the Mulsanne, will begin with deliveries to the UK this coming summer and the USA in the fall of 2010.

Pricing, just released by Bentley, shows the Mulsanne carrying a price tag of $285,000, not including taxes and delivery fees.

That kind of cash brings the cache to customize to one’s tastes. Mulsanne is offered in: 114 paint colors,  21 carpet colors, 9 wood veneers, and 24 leather interior hide selections. Mulsanne carries more standard leather and wood than any other modern Bentley and takes 9 weeks to build.

Power is derived from the hand-built, 505 horsepower,  V-8 that generates a whopping 572 lb-ft of torque for this rear-drive cabin cruiser. Power is channeled by an 8-speed automatic transmission that’s fitted with paddle shift levers behind the steering wheel as well. The new mill also features cylinder de-activation and variable cam phasing, helping reduce CO2 emissions and fuel.

In a press release, Stuart McCullough, Member of the Board for Sales & Marketing said,

” Even at this early stage, the expression of interest we’ve received easily exceeds our 2010 production targets. Mulsanne’s credentials are a pure expression of Bentley design and craftsmanship, and that’s struck a chord with Bentley enthusiasts as well as many of the potential customers we have welcomed for tours in Crewe this year. We’ve been encouraged by the positive commentary, notably from our American customers as the Mulsanne was privately previewed in seven metro markets across the country.”

Mulsanne will include such modern amenities as an iPod and MP3 connection, Bluetooth and SIM card reader. Automotive audiophiles will enjoy NAIM’s premium audio system – billed as the world’s most powerful audio system in a production vehicle – with 2,200 watts and 20 channels.

An all-new, dedicated facility will build Mulsanne at Bentley’s Crewe HQ, commencing in the second quarter of 2010.

If you’d like a new way to carry your motorized sleigh full of goodies over the river, snow banks and slush to Grandma’s house, consider the 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour, which had an official on sale date of Nov. 20 with an MSRP of $29,670. Delivery and handling will be another $710.

Obviously a cross-over vehicle, thus the purposeful use of the word “cross” in the vehicle name, it appears as a cross of the sedan and the old Accord station wagon from years ago. Of course, using imagery of the ages old wagon or beach wagon to some and the minivan to others brings up instant images of scorn and worse.

Thus, Honda adds the verbiage to include the versatility of an SUV with the refinement of a premium sedan to create a different CUV or Crossover Utility Vehicle. (This is the exact blend of change that Subaru brought out with its Outback years ago, and that helped Volvo conquest sales from those who demanded the SUV to keep up with the neighbors and did go camping and hiking but found the rough ride and image too much to take after a few years.)

The Accord Crosstour is designed to fulfill multiple roles for both style and function. A bold and sleek exterior conveys a prestigious presence from the outside, while premium interior styling extends from the passenger compartment into the cargo area. Increased functionality is provided by an under-floor storage area in the rear of the vehicle and reversible cargo floor panels ideal for dirty objects. Cargo area access is further enhanced by a tailgate with a large opening and a low lift-over height.

Power for all Crosstours comes from a 3.5-liter, 271 hp,  i-VTEC V-6 engine with Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) that generates 254 lb-ft of torque at 5,ooo rpm. The  2WD models have 18/27 mpg numbers.

The VCM cylinder deactivation system runs upon 3, 4 or 6 cylinders, depending upon power requirements. A 5-speed automatic transmission is standard.

Acura’s all-new 4-door sports coupe, the 2010 ZDX, has an official on sale date of Dec. 15 with an MSRP of $45,495, which does not include another $81o for handling and delivery.

Since it debuted at this past April’s New York Auto Show, the American designed and American-manufactured stands out with its styling and performance numbers.

“Acura dealers are seeing strong interest from customers for the ZDX well before its official on-sale date,” said Jeff Conrad, vice president of Acura sales in a press release. “The ZDX is like nothing you have ever seen before from Acura.”

The run down:

ZDX will be sold in 3 trim packages:

a well-equipped ZDX

a ZDX with Technology Package;

a ZDX with Advance Package.

Power for each package is generated from a 3.7-liter, 300 hp, V-6 VTEC(R) with 270 lb-fr of toque while producing EPA numbers of 16/23.

Also standard on each ZDX is Acura’s SH-AWD (R) or Super Handling All-Wheel-Drive that boosts handling and ensures heightened all-weather and all-season road-holding capabilities.

Standard fare includes what Acura bills as the world’s longest panoramic glass roof, concealed rear door handles, and a hand-stithced leather dash, center console and door panels.

The Technology Package adds an Acura Navigation System with Voice Recognition™, AcuraLink Real-Time Traffic™ with Traffic Rerouting™, AcuraLink Real-Time Weather™ with radar image maps, a full VGA display screen and an innovative new multi-view rear camera. Lotus has announced the pricing information its new Evora. Starting at $73,500, the new British rocket will use a 276-hp V6 sourced from Toyota. The motor will push the Evora to 60 in a tick under 5 seconds and get an estimated 30 mpg on the highway, albeit not at the same time.

The option list of the Evora is short but offers some nice upgrades. Depending on your driving persuasion there is a Sport Package which offers an “enhanced throttle response and RPM limit” and cross-drilled brakes among other performance oriented options. If you’re more into the GT scene, the Premium Package features leather and other trim upgrades. Those two packages run in at $1,275 and $1,990 respectively.

One option we’re watching closely is the $495 rear-view camera. Looking at the rear window of the Evora gives us the impression it just might come in a bit handier than titanium exhaust tips.

If there can be too much of a good thing, this may be it: a third member of the Porsche Boxster line.

Porsche Cars North America has announced that the third member of the vaunted Boxster line, the 2011 Spyder, will bow at the Los Angeles Auto Show on Dec. 2, 2009.

To differentiate it from its stablemate, the car’s windows are lower and sleeker – if possible – and two striking bulges on the rear deck lid give the Spyder a pronounced athletic stance.

The soft-top now extends far to the rear for an added stylistic swirl, adding functionality to the fun to protect the driver and passenger from heat or inclement elements.

Output: Power for this scatback is derived from a 3.4-liter, 320 hp, 6-cylinder motor with Direct Fuel Injection in front of the rear axle. An all-new sport suspension has lowered the car 20mm, providing an ever lower center of gravity, that combined with standard limited slip differential and special wheels that give the steak the sizzle to live up to its nameplate.

Utilizing aluminum doors and lightweight interior door panels from the 911 GT3 RS helped the Boxster Spyder shed 176 pounds less than the Boxster S. The Spyder also gets 10 more horsepower as well than the S.

Historical hook: The Boxster line has lineage extending back to the 550 Spyder and RS 60 of the 1950s and 1960s, all being mid-engined roadster with low weight, great agility and superb handling characteristics.

Limited edition Boxster Spyders appeared in 2004 and 2008, but the new Spyder will be a regular production model.

On Sale: Porsche says the official on sale date of the 2011 Boxster Spyder is in early February 2010.

The MSRP is listed at $61,200.

 

Ducati is wrapping up one hell of a deal for potential new motorcycle owners.  Until October 31st, buy any new and unregistered Ducati (any model or year) and you’ll get 6.75% financing at terms up to 48 months.

In addition to the sweet financing rates, Ducati is also offering current Ducati owners trade in allowances on Hypermotart, Monster 1100, and 848 Superbike models. Alternatively, you can go for the “full factory support” option at purchase time, in which case Ducati will cover the first year of regularly scheduled maintenance for all 2008-2009 models.

Sure, it’s fall and if you live in the upper half of the US the riding season is coming to a close (or over where it has snowed) but this just may be a deal too good to pass up for anyone craving a hand-made Italian motorcycle.

Nissan announced today that the second generation NISMO Z (aka NISMO 370Z) will carry a starting price of $39,130 and goes on sale today.

The specially tuned 370Z offers a unique body kit treatment, 18 more horsepower (now up to 350-hp), and a special sport tuned suspension.  Unlike the “regular” 370Z, the NISMO Z can only be had with Nissan’s SynchroRev Match 6-speed manual transmission.

NISMO Z buyers will only get three choices for options: NISMO carpeted floor mats ($115), illuminated kick plates ($200), and a carpeted trunk mat($95).

The car is propelled by the same 3.7-liter V6 as the regular Z, but power has been increased by 18-horsepower and 6 lb-ft of torque.

In an effort to curb the price appeal of the new Honda Insight, Toyota will price the new 2010 Prius $1,000 lower than its predecessor and will start at $21,000.

Much speculation has floated around ever since Honda set the base price of the new Insight at $19,800. Prius affectionados cried for Toyota to drop the price on the recently unveiled 2010 3rd gen.  Prius sales have also dropped off a cliff since gas prices have come down to more reasonable levels.

The 2009 Prius is currently listed as starting at $22,000. The $1,000 drop to $21,000 narrows the gap between the Honda Insight to $1,200.

There is a few caveats to the pricing announcement however. The Prius I model- that holds the lowest starting price won’t go into production right away. The Prius II will debut at the same $22,000 price point as the outgoing model.  The base price also does not include at $750 delivery charge.

TORRANCE, Calif., April 21, 2009 – - Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc.,
announced manufacturer’s suggested retail prices (MSRP) today for the all-new
2010 Prius midsize hybrid, scheduled to go on sale beginning in late May at Toyota
dealers nationwide.
The third-generation Prius will be available in one grade with a starting MSRP
of $21,000. The Prius will be offered with five levels of popular standard equipment
combinations.
“The 2010 Prius delivers outstanding mileage, performance and advanced
technology at a great price,” said Bob Carter, group vice president and general
manager of the Toyota Division.
Carter sees the most popular model starting at an MSRP of $22,000,
equipped with a high level of standard features, “This model provides more than
$2,000 added value, including the features most buyers want, at the same price as
the current base model” he said.
A new base model with a lower level of standard equipment is scheduled to
be available later this year. It is designed to appeal to the most cost-conscious
businesses and consumers.
Celebrated as the benchmark for cars of the future, the Prius has delivered
superior fuel economy and ultra-low emissions to more than 1.2 million owners
worldwide for over 10 years. When it goes on sale, the 2010 Toyota Prius will once
again set new standards for innovative hybrid design and technology, raising its level
of convenience features and performance to new heights, including EPA fuel
economy estimates of 51 mpg city, 48 mpg highway and 50 mpg combined (EPA
MPG estimates, actual mileage will vary).

The third-generation 2010 Prius will offer enhanced performance and
innovative design features. It will be quieter, roomier, and equipped with advanced
standard and available features such as four driving modes, steering wheel touch
controls that display on the instrument panel, a moonroof with solar panels, and
Intelligent Parking Assist (IPA).
The Prius is equipped with Toyota’s industry-leading Hybrid Synergy Drive
and certified as an Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (ATPZEV),
emitting over 70 percent fewer smog-forming emissions than the average
new vehicle. A larger and more powerful yet more efficient 1.8-liter Atkinson-cycle,
four-cylinder engine produces 98 horsepower at 5,200 rpm. Together with its
electric motor the hybrid system in the new Prius will generate a combined net
horsepower of 134, an increase of 24 horsepower over the previous generation.
All Prius models offer Toyota’s Star Safety System^TM as standard equipment,
which includes enhanced Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control
(TRAC) Systems, Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force
Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA). Other standard features include electric
power steering and four-wheel disc brakes.
Starting fall 2009, select Prius models will include Toyota’s all-new telematics
service, Safety Connect^TM, which will offer four safety and security features:
Automatic Collision Notification, Stolen Vehicle Location, Emergency Assistance
Button (SOS), and Roadside Assistance. Safety Connect will be available by
subscription, with an included one-year trial subscription.
Adding to the appeal of Prius is an additional array of standard convenience
features on most models that include automatic air conditioning equipped with an
electric air compressor; AM/FM/MP3 CD player with six-speakers and satellite radio
capability; driver door Smart Key system with Push Button Start and remote
illuminated entry; a Multi-Informational Display with an energy monitor and fuel
consumption history; six-way adjustable driver seat; power door locks; auto
up/down on all windows with window jam protection; cruise control; tilt/telescopic
adjustable steering wheel with audio and HVAC controls; color-keyed foldable power
heated side mirrors; dual sun visors with vanity mirrors; and tonneau cover.

Prius also brings many new firsts to the Toyota lineup. To help increase fuel
efficiency, the 1.8-liter engine is beltless, uses an electric water pump, a new
exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system, and an exhaust heat collection system.
Other Toyota firsts include a new Touch Tracer Display, which features touch
sensors on the steering wheel switches that are designed to reduce driver eye
movement for better concentration on the road; an available sliding glass moonroof
is packaged with solar panels that power a new ventilation system; a remote airconditioning
system functions on battery-power alone, and allows remote operation
so the driver can cool the interior temperature for comfort before getting in the car.
Also new to Toyota is an available Dynamic Radar Cruise Control system that
uses advanced millimeter wave radar. The system also enables Lane Keep Assist,
which helps the driver stay safely within the lane, and the Pre-Collision System,
which retracts seatbelts and applies the brakes in certain conditions when a crash is
unavoidable.
Base MSRPs do not include a delivery, processing, and handling (DPH) fee
of $750. The DPH fee for vehicles distributed by Southeast Toyota (SET) and Gulf
States Toyota (GST) may vary.

Ford is pricing the new 2010 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan squarely in the sights of eco-minded potential drivers. The new Fusion will carry a base price of $19,995 with the Hybrid variant starting at $27,995. The Mercury Milan will start at $21,905 with the Milan Hybrid priced at $31,300.

The Fusion will come in five trim levels. Fusion S, SE, SEL Sport, or Hybrid. The Fusion S, SE, and SEL trims will be powered by a new 2.5L I-4 engine.  Ford is rating the four-cylinder at 34-mpg making it an attractive daily commuter option. Should you require a little more performance, the Fusion Sport is avaliable with all-wheel-drive and larger 3.5L 263-horsepower V6 engine. SE and SEL trim Fusions can be upgraded to the V6 should their owners feel the need.

The much anticipated Fusion Hybrid boasts Toyota Camry Hybrid shattering fuel economy. Ford promises 41-mpg city, 36-mpg highway. Hybrid owners may also qualify for a $3,400 tax credit in 2009 if they buy one before March 31st. If you wait, that credit drops to $1,700 before September 30th and $850 after that until March 31st, 2010. Taking the full tax credit now would allow you to buy a Fusion Hybrid cheaper than a equipped four-cylinder Fusion.  Both the Fusion and Milan Hybrids feature Ford’s new SmartGauge system.  SmartGauge features two side by side LCD panels in the instrument panel featuring information, vehicle data, and can even teach you how to drive more efficiently.

The Milan is very similar. You can opt for the same 2.5L I-4 or the high-powered 3.5L V6. The Milan also comes with all-wheel-drive as an option.

DEARBORN, Mich., March 2, 2009 – The new 2010 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan, America’s most fuel-efficient mid-size sedans, offer the best value in their segment with starting prices of $19,995 and $21,905, including delivery and destination, respectively.

The gas engine-powered and hybrid-electric models leapfrog the competition in every area that counts: fuel economy, power, technology and overall value.

“We’ve priced Fusion to beat the competition as is does in every area that matters most to customers,” said Chantel Lenard, Ford group marketing manager, Global Small and Medium Cars. “This vehicle does more than compete; it aggressively positions Ford to take back its share of the mid-size car segment and sets the tone for the upcoming Taurus and Fiesta launches.”

Dollars and Sense
The front-wheel-drive Fusion S, with a new fuel-efficient 2.5-liter I-4 engine, has a base price (including $725 destination and delivery) of $19,995; the SE trim level is $20,545; the SEL is $23,975. An optional 3.0-liter V-6 engine also is available on SE and SEL models.

Performance-minded buyers can opt for the Fusion Sport equipped with a new 3.5-liter V-6 engine that produces 263 horsepower and 249 ft.-lb. of torque. Fusion Sport FWD starts at $25,825; AWD at $27,675.

The Mercury Milan ranges from $21,180 (including destination and delivery) for the FWD model with the I-4 engine and six-speed automatic transmission, to $27,800 for the well-equipped Milan Premier AWD model with a fuel-efficient 3.0-liter V-6 engine.

Fusion and Milan’s value is further bolstered by stronger residual values. According to Automotive Leasing Guide (ALG), a California-based consulting and data-gathering firm, the base 2010 Fusion is projected to retain 50 percent of its original value at the end of a conventional three-year lease term. That’s a six-point increase overall since the Fusion launched for the 2006 model year.

More Value: Tax Credits for Hybrids
Fusion and Milan deliver class-leading fuel economy of 41 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway. Fusion Hybrid has a base price of $27,995 (including destination and delivery), which is less than a $3,300 price differential for a similarly equipped Fusion gas-engine powered I-4 SEL model. Meanwhile, the well-equipped Milan Hybrid is priced at $31,300.

For added savings, customers who purchase a new Fusion or Milan Hybrid by March 31, 2009, may qualify for a $3,400 tax credit on their 2009 federal income tax return. This is the highest hybrid credit available. Between April 1, 2009, and Sept. 30, 2009, customers who purchase a 2010 Fusion or Milan Hybrid are eligible for a partial credit of $1,700. Between Oct. 1, 2009, and March 31, 2010, an $850 credit applies.

Meanwhile, competing hybrid sedans from Toyota and Honda no longer are eligible for tax credits.
Initial demand for the Fusion and Milan Hybrid is strong with nearly 80 percent of early retail orders being hybrids.

Steeped in Quality
Fusion and Milan have unsurpassed quality, ranking better than Toyota Camry, Honda Accord and Nissan Altima for initial quality, according to Global Quality Research System (GQRS) survey data from 2008.

In early drive reviews, consumer publications have begun touting the 2010 Fusion and Milan Hybrid models as the new industry benchmark: “Fusion is without equal among hybrids,” wrote USA Today, Feb. 5, 2009.

Nissan’s odd little eco-box, the first production vehicle to feature asymmetrical styling, will be priced at a very attractive $13,990 and avaliable in a four different versions including the tricked out Cube Krom.  We’ve got the details and photos.

Yes, we said Krom, that’s no typo. Because, what would a small funky vehicle be without an equally funky name? The Cube Krom will “add character without overwhelming the innovative cube design.”   Aside from the standard cube features, which we’ll get to in a second,  the Krom model offers “exclusive” exterior and interior treatments, a 3-bar chrome grill, 2-bar chrome front bumper, “fully integrated” front and rear fascias, body side sills, a unique rear spoiler and 16-inch aluminum wheels.  Oh, and we can’t forget the Krom badge. It was developed by Nissan North America’s new Special Vehicles Group.

The Krom is also decked out with Bluetooth, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, special seats, an upgraded audio system complete with iPod interface, Titanium interior accents, and special interior illumination.

Now, the Krom is based on the cube 1.8S model. Nissan will also offer the 1.8, and 1.8 SL trim levels.  Each will come powered by the same 1.8L 122-horsepower DOHC inline 4-cylinder engine from the Versa. Nissan projects the Krom will achieve an impressive 30mpg, despite essentially being a brick on wheels.  The cube also gets a continuously variable transmission standard.

With the launch of the cube, Nissan is rolling out an extensive accessories program.  Similar to Scion, cube owners will be able to trick out their vehicle with a wide range of options to fit their personality. Among the list of cube options are, a “shag dash topper”, “front door bungees”, an a 20-color changeable accent lighting kit.

The cube goes on sale this May at Nissan dealers nationwide starting at an extremely economical $13,990 for the cube 1.8 model. If you’re a big fan and would like to claim your cube early, Nissan is offering a “reserve your cube” program starting later this month.

Nissan still has not let out the full options and package pricing, but we’ll keep you in the loop when it comes over the wire.

While some of it’s styling may not be of the norm, the IFR Aspid Supersport is a car that will truly change the sports car industry. The Supersport, which will be on sale this year come summertime, is one that will be a definite head turner. The price will possibly be $100,000 if not more, but you are truly paying for an amazing machine that is worth every dollar.

Something nice about this car is you can choose to be like a Jeep Wrangler driver and roll around town without a roof or doors. Or if the weather is not so nice, simply put the roof and doors back on. You will have to make sure you are strapped in when driving this car as it goes 0-60mph in 2.8 seconds and has a top speed of 155mph. It’s max power is 398bhp @ 8600rpm and a max torque of 240lb ft @ 7800rpm. Another unique part of this car is it’s brakes. It has a very unique brake set up similar to that of motorcycles that look like a work of art.

The car is very light and weighs in at just 850kg. A nice feature to the styling of this car is that they left some parts in the raw carbon fiber which give it’s appearance a nice accent. The IFR Aspid Supersport’s look may not attract everyone, but it’s performance definitely will.

The much anticipated upgrade to the popular Nissan Z line, the 370Z is set to go on sale starting with an under $30,000 price and new marketing tag line.

“SHIFT_the way you move” will be the new marketing slogan for the Nissan brand. The previous line “SHIFT_” was used with various complementary words to describe particular models or marketing materials.

The new 370Z Coupe went on sale just a few days ago on December 30th.  It’s base price is set at $29,930 for the 6-speed manual.  Should you want to upgrade to the 7-speed automatic, the cost will be $31,230.

The Coupe touring model with a manual will be priced at $34,460.  The automatic will cost $35,760.

Two option packages will be offered. The sport package adds 19-inch RAYS forged wheels mounted with Bridgestone Potenza tires, an aerodynamic front/rear spoiler, larger sport brakes, SynchroRev Match for the 6-speed transmission, and a Limited slip rear differential. All those goodies will add $3,000 to the bottom line.

You can also add the Nissan Navigation System with a 9.3GB Music Box Hard Drive System for $1,850. That includes an iPod interface and adapter.

The 2009 370Z is the “most power Z ever produced” and is equipped with a 332-horsepower 3.7-liter V6. Based on our excellent experiences with driving the 350Z- this is one car you’ll want to put on your wish list.

General Motors has announced the base price of a 2WD Silverado Hybrid will be $38,995, topping out at $45,130.  The Sierra Hybrid will be slightly more, starting at $39,365, with the uplevel trim package  priced at $45,500.

The Hybrid duo are equipped with:

* 6.0-liter V-8 engine (332 hp / 247 kW)
* Low rolling resistance tires
* Hybrid ornamentation
* Soft tonneau cover
* Standard head curtain side air bags

Fuel efficiency has been rated at 21-mpg in the city and 22-mpg on the highway.

Additional Insight:
In the case of the “base” Silverado Hybrid, which is based on the 1LT trim level package, a similarly equiped non-hybrid Silverado runs about $31,895 based on current incentives. That sets the hybrid premium at $7,100. To help offset the price difference, Silverado and Sierra Hybrid buyers are able to claim a $2,200 federal tax credit.  Assuming the tax break reduces the gap to $4,900- you’re paying $980 per additional mile of fuel economy.

We’ve been waiting with baited breath. Chevrolet filled us in with the jaw-dropping numbers this morning that surround the super-performance 2009 Corvette ZR1. Zero to sixty in 3.4 seconds, zero to one-hundred in 7 seconds, a quarter mile in 11.3 seconds at 131mph, and a base price of $103,300.

Assuming you have the cash to grab one of these super-performance machines, you’ll also have to pay a $1,700 gas guzzler tax as the official EPA fuel economy has been set at 14mpg city and 20mpg highway. And, if you still have money left over you can select one or both of two options. A $10,000 package equips the ZR1 with power adjustable and heated seats, bluetooth, side air-bags, a Bose sound system, and a custom leather interior available in four separate colors. Chrome wheels add an additional $2,000 to the bottom line bringing a maxed out ZR1 to a staggering price of $115,300.

Sure, it’s a lot of money but the performance you get is equal or beyond that of many exotic cars on the road today for a fraction of the price. You can also rest assured that you’ll also be saving money at the pump when behind the wheel of the ZR1. It’s 14/20 EPA fuel economy rating is better than the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, Lamborghini Murcielago, and Aston Martin V8 Vantage. The figures are in the same ballpark as the Dodge Viper and Porsche 911 GT3.
