The Lotus Evora chalked up a nice honor recently, taking home the “Top Gear” magazine Sports Car of the Year honors, celebrating the 10th year the mag has given out such platitudes.
Evora is the world’s only production mid-engine 2+2, Lotus says, and enhances the driving experie
nce with the mid-engine layout for superior handling and agility characteristics.
Power comes from a 3.5-liter, 276 hp, V-6 engine that easily scoots the car along with exemplary 0-to-60 mph times of 4.9 seconds.
Top speed is listed by Lotus at 162 mph.

Conor McNicholas, Top Gear editor said, “It’s pretty, quintessentially British, fast, and handles like a dream. Evora takes Lotus to a new places in terms of quality but more importantly delivers a sports car rush that puts other marques to shame.”
Lotus CEO Dany Bahar noted in a press release, “I am delighted that the Evora has won the Top Gear award for 2009. Top Gear is very well regarded around the world and it is a fantastic achievement for all who have worked on the Evora to win such a prestigious award.
“I am particularly please that the Top Gear team commented upon the huge improvements in quality at Lotus, confirming that the Evora is an exciting super car that can be sued for every day driving.”

Evora’s win adds to the honors the car has won and might better consider a pickup to haul them home with.
