The new 2011 Buick Regal won’t debut in LA for a few more hours but we had a chance to take a first hand look at it last night. Here’s our first impressions.
We detailed what the folks at GM had in store for the 2011 Buick Regal just a few weeks ago. Last night we got down and dirty with the all-new sibling to the grown up LaCrosse just outside the LA Convention Center.
Seeing the car in real life really does give a different impression than in photographs. The Regal is quite curvy and elegant. While not extreme in design the Regal has a very certain sense of style about it. It won’t command attention on the road in the typical sense, but it will draw the eyes of any passer by.
The interior is more conservative than the LaCrosse, yet really hones down on being classy and elegant. It features an i-Drive like control knob on the center console. Quickly trying the dial out confirms it’s no-where near as confusing as i-Drive. Think of it more as an alternative to using a touchscreen (which the Regal does not have). Also of note is the slick finish on the interior door pulls.
It’s too early to judge fit and finish as the car we sat in was still a prototype but first indications look to put the Regal a fighting shot at any of the imports.
