2010 BMW ActiveHybrid X6 will start at $89,725



Just in time for that hard to shop for lug nut on your list who has an empty bay in his multi-room garage, BMW is offering its polarizing 2010 X6 Active Hybrid with destination and shipping for $89,725.

It is set to debut at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show and then arrive in dealer showrooms.

The X6 Active Hybrid features BMW’s interpretation of two-mode hybrid technology, mated to the 4.4-liter, 400 hp, twin-turbo V8 the price includes a number of standard features, which are optional on the X6 xDrive50i.

Additional output is from the two electric synchronous motors, delivering 91 hp and 86 hp, respectively. Maximum system output is 480 hp, and peak torque reaches 575 lb-ft. according to BMW. Top speed is electronically limited to 130 m.p.h.

BMW notes that its hybrid’s 3 motors are efficient and work in harmony to reduce CO2 emissions and fuel consumption almost 20 percent. It can run on full electric power without emitting CO2 at up to 37 mph as well.

The X6 also benefits from a two-mode transmission that’s based upon an ECVT. One mode is for more stop-and-go driving while the other is for higher, maintained speeds.

Standard fare on the X6 Active Hybrid are a unique 7-speed automatic transmission, Extended Nappa leather (including the dashboard and center console), 20-inch Aero Wheels with mixed-sized performance tires, Rearview camera with Top View and Head-up display, BMW Assist with Bluetooth phone connectivity, Power tailgate, Premium sound system, 6-disc DVD Changer, iPod and USB adapter, Universal garage-door opener, Comfort Access, Soft-close doors, 4-zone climate control, Heated front seats, Auto-dimmer rearview mirrors, Digital compass mirror, Anthracite headliner, Ambiance lighting, Privacy glass, Running boards, Storage package.

The short option list with prices includes:

1. Active ventilating seat package $1,100

2. Cold Weather Package $900

3. Rear side window shades $300

4. Automatic high-beams $250

5. Satellite radio $350

6. Rear seat entertainment system $1,700

7. Smartphone integration $150

8. Enhanced premium sound system $700
