Lamborghini has used the LA Auto Show to debut the new Gallardo Spyder. The LP 560-4, as it’s called, is the successor to the best selling Lamborghini of all time. Based on the Gallardo Coupe LP 560-4, which was unveiled in Geneva last spring, the Spyder is powered by a new 5.2-Liter V10 putting out 560-horsepower. That’s 40-horsepower more than the previous Gallardo Spyder.
It will sprint from 0-62 in 4.0-seconds and tops out at a staggering 201 mph. Why anyone would want to travel 201 mph in a soft top convertible is still debatable. Lamborghini also notes that, for the fuel conscientious buyer, the new Gallardo LP 560-4 Spyder gets 18% better fuel economy. On sale next spring, the new Spyder will run for $221,000.
Economic Irony
Lamborghini says: “As the brand’s largest global market, the United States – specifically Southern California – was strategically chosen as the perfect location to unveil the new open top super sports car”
