Created specifically for the 2008 Salon d’Automobiles in Paris and just unveiled the new Estoque concept is very unlike any Lamborghini that has come before it. It’s a “Sedan”. And although the concept has four doors, Lamborghini is hesitant to call it a “Sedan”. They prefer the term “everyday sports car”. Works for us.
Even with the two extra doors and seats, the Estoque is uniquely a Lamborghini. Configured in a mid-engine layout, the Estoque is different than the Gallardo, Murciélago and Reventón. Where-as their engines are located front of the rear axle, the Estoque’s is located aft of the front axle. Like the Gallardo, Murciélago and Reventón the Estoque transfers power to the ground through permanent all-wheel drive.
The details surrounding and exact engine powering the concept have been left strangely ambiguous. Read this passage from the official press release:
“A range of drivelines is conceivable for the Estoque. This is headed up by the
highly-acclaimed Lamborghini ten-cylinder from the Gallardo LP 560-4 – with
more torque and higher revving than virtually any other engine. A
complementary alternative could be a turbocharged eight-cylinder derived
from this V10. A particularly economical, but nevertheless dynamic, variation
would be a V8 with a hybrid module or an extremely high-performance TDI.”
Sounds like there’s some serious options for a possible production model.
The press release for the Estoque runs 11-pages long. Here’s the best bits summarized followed by the photos you’ve been waiting for.
